Cost Per Ticket Calculator
See what each support ticket actually costs — cost per ticket or per contact — from agent pay, headcount and tooling spend. Free, runs in your browser.
Cost per ticket is the number finance asks for and support rarely has ready. Headcount is easy to state and tooling spend is on an invoice somewhere, but nobody's divided them by the volume that actually came through this month. Without it, a request for another agent is a feeling, not a number, and a pitch for anything that reduces ticket volume has nothing to compare against.
Enter tickets per month, how many agents handle them, what an agent fully loaded costs a month, and what your tools and overhead add on top. It divides the total by ticket volume and shows cost per ticket, total monthly cost, and tickets handled per agent — the same shape finance uses for cost per unit, applied to your queue. All arithmetic happens in your browser; nothing you type is sent anywhere.
(agents × loaded cost + overhead) ÷ tickets. Labor share shows how much of the number headcount is. Nothing you enter leaves your browser.
This ran in your browser on what you typed. The product runs on your actual calls, chats and emails.

- 01
Tickets per month
Every ticket a person or your helpdesk logged, across every channel you count. Your helpdesk's monthly report has this; use resolved tickets if that's what you compare month to month, not tickets created.
- 02
Agents handling them
Headcount actually working the queue, not your whole support org. Use a decimal for part-time or shared agents — 3.5 for three full-time agents and one at half capacity — so the cost per agent stays accurate.
- 03
Fully loaded monthly cost per agent
Salary plus taxes, benefits, and the share of management overhead finance allocates per head. If agents split time across queues, use the share of their month spent on this one.
- 04
Tooling and overhead per month
The helpdesk platform, QA and workforce tools, and anything else billed monthly that exists because the queue does. Split shared tools by the share of usage this queue accounts for if you can estimate it.
Questions about this tool
It varies enormously by channel and complexity, so treat any number you read as a rough compass rather than a target. As a rule of thumb, a simple self-service or chat resolution often lands in the low single digits, while a ticket a person has to research and reply to by email commonly runs $10–$25 fully loaded. Your own trend month to month matters more than the absolute figure.
