Per resolution = resolutions × price. Seats + per resolution adds seats × seat price. Usage = conversations × replies × $0.02 (WireDesk's list rate, billed whether or not a conversation resolves, before any plan allowance or plan fee). Chat and email only. Nothing you enter leaves your browser.

AI customer service is sold in three shapes, and they bill on different variables. Per-resolution pricing charges each time the agent closes a conversation without a person. Suites charge per human seat and add a price per automated resolution on top. Usage pricing charges for the work itself, every reply the agent sends, whether or not the conversation resolves. Quotes in different shapes can't be compared until you put one real month through all three.
Enter the conversations the agent would handle, the share it resolves without a person, the replies a conversation takes, and the per-resolution and per-seat prices from the quotes in front of you. As of October 2026, published rates include Intercom Fin at $0.99 per outcome, Zendesk at $1.50 or $2.00 per automated resolution on top of $55 or $115 per agent seat, and WireDesk at $0.02 per agent reply. It runs in your browser; nothing you type is sent anywhere.
One month, priced three ways
5,000 conversations, 50% resolved without a person, 4 agent replies each, 10 seats Per resolution at $0.99: 2,500 × $0.99 = $2,475 Seats + per resolution: 10 × $55 + $2,475 = $3,025 Usage at $0.02 a reply: 5,000 × 4 × $0.02 = $400 Usage bills all 5,000 conversations, resolved or not; per-resolution bills only the 2,500 it counts as resolved. Divide the usage bill by resolutions to compare like for like: $400 ÷ 2,500 = $0.16 per resolved conversation.
What each input means
- 01
AI-handled conversations per month
Chat and email conversations the agent answers first, before any person. Leave out voice: not every per-resolution vendor publishes a voice price, so it can't be compared like for like here.
- 02
Resolved without a person
The share a vendor would bill as a resolution. Read their definition first: some count a conversation the customer abandons, or one that ends in a handoff, as an outcome.
- 03
Agent replies per conversation
How many messages the agent sends in a typical conversation. A chat often takes about four, an email one. This is the variable usage pricing follows.
- 04
Price per resolution, seats and seat price
Use the figures from your quotes. Set seats to zero to price a per-resolution product that sits on top of the helpdesk you already pay for.
Questions about this tool
It depends which grows faster, your volume or your team. Per-resolution bills follow how many conversations the AI closes; per-seat bills follow headcount whatever the AI does. A suite that charges both moves with both. Put your own month through the calculator rather than trusting either vendor's example.
