A Shopify store action answers “where’s my order?”, “do you have this in blue?” and “I want to send this back” from your Shopify store, on a call, in chat or by email. It needs Shopify connected to the agent first.

What it can do

Tick what the agent may do. Everything is ticked when you add the action.

How an order is found

The customer gives two things: the order number (1001, #1001, or your own prefix like ACME-1001) and the email the order was placed with. Both must match the same order. A wrong number and a wrong email get the same answer, “I couldn’t find an order with those details”, so neither can be used to learn the other. On a call, the agent reads the email back to check it before looking. A return request uses the same two details. The agent asks which items are going back and how many of each, one unless the customer says more, and never asks for more than can still be returned. An item is matched by its whole name before part of one; when a name could be two items, such as two sizes of one shirt, the agent asks the customer which rather than choosing.

Set it up

1

Connect Shopify

See Shopify for the app and its scopes.
2

Add the action

Agents → your agent → Actions → Add action → Shopify store. Tick what the agent may do, pick channels, and save. Each agent has one Shopify store action.

When something goes wrong

If Shopify refuses the connection, for example because the app is missing a scope or its token was revoked, the agent offers to take a message, and the Shopify card on Actions › Connections shows Last request failed with Shopify’s reason. When Shopify turns down one request, for example a return outside the return window, the agent tells the customer and the card is left alone. Every lookup appears in the action log as shopify_order_status, shopify_search_products or shopify_start_return.
